Celebrations of Colour & Light

Welcome back, everyone! We hope that those families that were away from nursery had a lovely half-term break and enjoyed some time together. We are looking forward to getting back into our nursery routines and have lots of interesting things to explore over the next couple of weeks.

Our theme for Weeks 8 and 9 will be celebrations. We will be talking about the different festivals and special occasions that families enjoy throughout the year, and how people celebrate in different ways.

We will be exploring Bonfire Night, Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas, looking at some of the traditions, colours, lights and customs associated with each celebration. The children will have opportunities to share their own experiences, talk about celebrations they enjoy with their families and discover some of the different ways people mark special occasions.

We will also be reading a book about different cultural celebrations together, looking at the things that make each festival special and spotting some of the similarities between them. Although celebrations may look different from one family or culture to another, there are often lots of things they have in common, such as spending time with loved ones, sharing food, music and enjoying special traditions.

We hope the children enjoy discovering more about the celebrations taking place around them and sharing a little of their own family traditions with us too.
