This week we will be exploring windy days and looking at how the wind affects the world around us. We will talk about how the wind makes the leaves move and how it helps to bring the leaves down from the trees. If we are lucky enough to have a particularly windy day, we may even get to watch the leaves whizzing around our garden!
The children will have a chance to look at different types of leaves and talk about the trees they may have come from. We will look at their colours, shapes and sizes before using them in some autumn-inspired artwork. Leaf printing and collages will give the children plenty of opportunity to get creative while exploring the natural materials around us.
We will also share some autumn stories together and talk about the different animals we might see during this time of year. We will explore how animals prepare for the colder weather and think about where they might find food and shelter as the seasons change.
You can continue the fun at home by going for a walk and listening to the leaves crunching under your feet. Can your child spot the different sounds they make? You could also collect a few fallen leaves and use them to make a picture together. There are lots of wonderful things to discover when you stop and look closely at autumn!
