We’ve all had a fabulous week in the nursery, with both our babies and toddlers enjoying the summer weather. Thankfully it has been a little cooler this week so we have been able to enjoy all that the famous British Summer has thrown at us.

Next week, we’re making the most of summer with a fun-filled mix of creativity, sensory play, and even a BBQ party for our little ones to enjoy. Both our toddlers and babies will be busy with hands-on activities that explore textures, colours, and summertime favourites.

Toddler Room

We’ll begin Monday by making beautiful art with beach sand handprints. Using sand and paint, children will press their hands to create textured art that captures the spirit of sunny beach days.

Tuesday brings a bit of science into the mix with fizzy sea creature play. Using safe, bubbly ingredients, we’ll explore reactions and watch our underwater creatures fizz and pop to life, a perfect activity for curious minds and lots of “wow” moments.

We’ll be celebrating in style on Wednesday with our very own summer party and BBQ. Children can enjoy party games, dancing, and a special lunch as we bring the holiday spirit to nursery.

Thursday is all about wind power as children get creative by colouring their own windmills, and we’ll lead a discussion about the wind and how it turns a windmill.

And to round off the week on Friday, we’ll be enjoying a fun craft session, gluing and sticking our own ice cream sundaes. From ice cream to cherries on top, children will design their own summer treats using a mix of textured materials.

Baby Room

We’re joining in the summer fun with some lovely seasonal activities of our own. 

On Monday, babies will be making their own beach sand handprints, exploring texture and movement as they press and pat into soft sand mixed with paint.

Tuesday brings a burst of sunshine indoors as we create sunflower collages, gluing and sticking yellow petals and green stems to make big, bold blooms.

We’re excited for a nursery-wide summer party and BBQ on Wednesday, where babies will enjoy a garden party and food with their friends.

Thursday will offer a refreshing chance to explore cool water play, splashing, pouring and discovering how water moves with different containers and toys.

And on Friday, we’ll round off the week with a special summer-themed sensory tuff tray, filled with soft sand, gentle scents, and bright summer colours, which will be perfect for calming exploration and sensory discovery.
