Pumpkins!

This week we will be exploring seasonal vegetables and looking at all the different ways we can use them in our activities. With autumn in full swing, there are plenty of lovely things to discover, and we have some exciting, hands-on activities planned!

The children will be decorating pumpkins and exploring what is inside them. They will have the chance to scoop out the seeds, feel the different textures and take a closer look at what’s hidden beneath the skin. We will also be getting stuck into some messy play using coloured rice, pasta, pumpkin scoops and tongs. These activities are great for exploring different textures and helping the children develop their hand control as they scoop, pour and move things around.

For our creative activities, we will be making our own pumpkins using paints and other art materials. The children can use their imaginations to create their own colourful designs, whether they prefer bright and cheerful pumpkins or something more seasonal.

A little reminder that our term-time children will finish for a two week half-term break on Friday 16th October and return on Monday 2nd November.

We hope you all have a lovely half-term break and enjoy some special time together. If you’re out and about, keep an eye out for all the wonderful signs of autumn!
