Autumn Clothes

The weather is definitely starting to feel more autumnal, so this week we will be talking about the changes we can see and feel as the days get colder. We will chat about windy and chilly days and think about the different ways we can look after ourselves and keep warm.

We will be looking at the clothes we wear in different seasons. The children will have fun sorting different items of clothing and deciding whether they belong in summer or winter. We will also use socks and gloves for some simple counting and matching games. We may even discover that some gloves have a rather mysterious habit of losing their partners!

We will also talk about food and the different things we enjoy as the weather changes. We will encourage the children to share their favourite meals and talk about foods that we might enjoy when it is cold outside.

Our autumn stories will continue this week, and we will be enjoying the familiar tale of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”. We will encourage the children to join in with repeated parts of the story, talk about the characters and think about what happens when Goldilocks goes into the bears’ house.

You can continue the learning at home by talking about the weather when you get dressed each morning. Ask your child what they think they might need to wear on a cold or windy day. You could also explore hot and cold foods together, talking about how they feel, smell and taste.

There is lots to talk about as the seasons change, and we are looking forward to another cosy week of stories, games and autumn learning!
