Holidays & Travel

This week our learning will focus on travel and holidays, encouraging the children to share their own experiences while discovering different ways people can explore the world. As always, activities will be carefully adapted to meet each child’s individual stage of development, with keyworkers supporting their key groups throughout the week.

The children will be invited to bring in and talk about their holiday photographs, giving them the opportunity to share holiday memories with their friends and develop their confidence when speaking in a group. Our practitioners will also share some of their own holiday pictures, helping to spark conversations about different places,.

Using wooden blocks and other open-ended resources, the children will work together to design and build their own forms of transport, such as aeroplanes and buses. These activities encourage teamwork, and creative thinking.

Our role play area will be transformed into a busy airport, where the children can take on different roles such as pilots and passengers. Through role play, we will explore what happens when we travel and practise communicating with one another.

We will also enjoy a selection of travel-themed stories, introducing the children to new places and different cultures. These shared stories will encourage curiosity about the world while supporting language development and an interest in reading.
