As many of our children prepare for their exciting next adventure, this week our learning will focus on growing up and getting ready to move on to school.

We will be talking about the changes that come with moving to reception class, helping the children to feel confident and proud of how much they have grown. Together, we will explore school uniforms, discussing why they are worn and giving the children plenty of opportunities to practise putting on different items of clothing, including their PE kits. These practical activities help to develop independence and build confidence in everyday skills.

Throughout the week, we will share a selection of stories about starting school and moving to a new setting. These stories provide a wonderful opportunity to talk about the different feelings children may experience, whether they are excited, curious, or a little unsure. We will encourage open conversations, helping the children to recognise their emotions and understand that it is perfectly normal to have mixed feelings about such an important milestone.

Role play will form an important part of our learning as the children act out their first day at school, meet new friends, and practise simple social skills such as introducing themselves, sharing, taking turns, and showing kindness to others. These skills help children to develop confidence while preparing them for the exciting adventures that lie ahead.
