Our Learning Topic this week is Farm Animals & Life On The Farm.
We are going to be enjoying many different fun activities that involve learning about a variety of farm animals. Children will be introduced to the idea of the various creatures that they might meet on a farm and the sounds that they make through the popular rhyming song Old MacDonald.
As part of our exploration of mark-making we’ll be using toy animals and paint to see what kinds of prints (such as tracks and footsteps) the animals might make.
As we are experiencing some very fine weather at the moment, we are going to be helping to rescue some farm animal toys that have found themselves trapped in a block of ice, where children will use different tools to rescue the animals from the cold ice block.
As if those toy animals weren’t already having a difficult week of things, they are also going to find themselves in a slurry of mud (made from cocoa powder and cornflour). We are going to be learning that part of animal care is helping our pets and farm animals to stay clean, and the children will be able to help make the toys look their best by using soap and water.
We’ll also be doing many crafts over the course of the week, from cotton wool sheep to paper plate pigs, as well as other activities that will help stretch all our Tiny Crickets’ learning and imaginations.
