Autumn Term (Weeks 11, 12 & 13) Celebrations

This update encompasses our plans for the next three weeks as we will be working towards all of our activities and excitement for the end of the year.

Preparations & Celebrations

These next three weeks children will be engaged in many fun activities, creating artwork for the Christmas folders that we decorated last week

We will continue to practice for our Christmas concert which, you will be able to view via our secure Tapestry Journal account at the end of the term.

On Monday the 30th November we will be hosting an afternoon tea party to celebrate Guru Nanak’s Birthday. As part of this fun day of learning and celebration, children will be introduced to a number of instruments that Sikhs play whilst singing hymns. They will also be involved various craft activities which relate to Guru Nanak. If you would like your child to attend this special session as an additional nursery session, please speak to Suki.

Our traditional Christmas post box is now in place at the nursery, to allow for your child to send Christmas cards to the children in their keyworker groups. Please take a picture of the names of the children in your child’s keyworker group, where it is displayed on the window in order for you write and send in your Christmas cards in plenty of time.

Read, Write, Inc Phonics Scheme

As much as we are getting into the spirit of celebration, our learning still continues in all of our activities. Additionally, our older children will be given black display books which contain phase 1 of the phonics sounds from the Ruth Miskin Read, Write, Inc scheme. Please look on the internet to help you best understand how to help sound these phonics sounds out. There is plenty of good information on the Readm Write, Inc site, including a Parents Portal which you should visit for information on how to best assist your child’s phonics learning. Please ensure your child brings their black display books to nursery on the days they attend so that they can get the most out of their early phonics learning.

We will have a few busy weeks ahead of us, and hope that children will be excited for all of the fun and learning that we have planned.

With love from the team at Little Crickets Nursery, Walsall.
