Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am delighted to confirm that subject to the continuing Government guidance we are very much looking forward to the start of the academic year on Tuesday 8th September. We will be welcoming back existing students as well as getting to know those who are new to Little Crickets Nursery, and making them feel ‘at home’ as soon as possible.

In line with this, new parents will be notified next week of their child’s induction date to welcome them to the nursery setting.

In preparation for the safe return of all pupils and staff, the nursery has undertaken a rigorous risk assessment. 

Please note that we have changed our opening times to 8:50am – 11:50am for morning sessions, and afternoon sessions will run from 11:50am -2:50pm. Only children who will be staying for afternoon sessions will be required to bring their lunch bag.

Returning to nursery after the long summer break can sometimes be daunting, and this year we are particularly aware that, for some of our children, the extended period of absence may present some challenges as the routines and formality of the nursery day are re-established.

There are some simple steps which may help your child to readjust, and prepare them for the excitement of the new term:

● It is important to try to establish an effective sleep routine. It takes time to establish a new sleep routine so we advise parents to help reset their child’s body clock over the final weeks of the holiday.

● Talk positively about the return to nursery with your child. Take time to read through the attached risk assessment guidelines with your child where appropriate, to ensure they are clear on the new routines we have adopted, and understand that nursery is doing all it can to ensure we are a safe environment where they can have fun and enjoy their learning.

● Be prepared for possible changes in behaviour as your child readjusts over the first few weeks. For example; they may feel very tired, which is only natural after a long period away from the structure of the nursery day. They may also be worried about leaving family members with whom they have spent a lot of time during lockdown. If you have any concerns regarding the adjustment phase once nursery begins, please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions.
