Teaching Sun Safety, And Information For Children Beginning School

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope that you and your family are all keeping well and safe.

Right now would have been our last term of this academic year, and we are all feeling very sad that we are unable to give our graduates the ceremony they deserve. Over the next few weeks we will evaluate the Covid-19 situation, and if the risk lowers within the guidelines set out by the government then we would like to organise a ceremony for those children who will be leaving Little Crickets for school. If the situation changes in such a way as we are allowed to plan a ceremony I will inform parents and guardians in July.

Children who are moving onto school in September will need to learn how to dress and undress themselves, so please encourage independence in this area, learning how manipulate different fastenings. It is a good time to start talking to children moving to Reception in September about their transition from nursery to school, and how they have become older children. CBeebies have a number of resources to help you navigate the transition:

Whilst we are away from nursery, please use this time to teach your children about keeping safe in the sun. Help your child to develop and encourage such skills as applying sun cream, drinking water to stay hydrated, and remembering to wear a sun hat.

Please do your best in these difficult times to enjoy the time you have with your children, and help them to make every day a fun day.

Take care and God bless,

Suki Kaur
