During this time with your families, Little Crickets Nursery would like to ask all of its wonderful children to help bring extra brightness to the local community in Walsall.

Over the past few days children in the UK and all over the world have been painting, drawing, colouring and making rainbows to display in their windows. These rainbows will hopefully bring brightness and colour to people all over the world. For many, rainbows symbolise hope and light, a recognition of the calm and sunny days after stormy weather, and a rainbow will make almost anyone who sees it smile a bright smile.

All you need is some paper (or tape a few pieces together for an even bigger and brighter rainbow) and some coloured crayons, pens, paints or pencils. Draw a big, curved rainbow, and make it as bright as you can. The traditional colours for a rainbow are red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, but you can choose your own colours if you like.

If you have children’s water-based washable craft paint you can even paint directly to the window (it can easily be removed afterwards with a soapy wet cloth), using a paintbrush or a sponge, or even with handprints. You might instead choose to make your rainbow out of bits of coloured paper or scrunched up tissue paper. Use whatever materials you have available to you and be as creative as you can. Have fun drawing, painting and colouring pictures to decorate your windows as  brightly as you can, and we can all be sure that they will help to make everyone who sees them very happy.
